Moneycorp retail arm says bonjour to France

• Moneycorp opens first bureau de change outside the UK in partnership with Moneygram

• Significant move in Moneycorp’s international growth plans

• Travel money bureau to be situated opposite  Paris’ Gare du Nord station

• Plans to increase retail footprint across further French regions

• Introductory offer of no commission on currency services for a limited time

Moneycorp, the currency specialist, has opened a new retail outlet in Paris, servicing travellers within the French capital.

The new Paris opening is a key move in expanding the currency specialist’s foreign exchange offer in Europe, building on its existing international payments offices in France, Spain and Ireland.

The bureau has opened in partnership with Moneygram, the global money transfer specialist. This is only the beginning for Moneycorp’s expansion into the French market, as the company looks for further retail opportunities in Paris and other major French regions.

As part of its launch, the bureau de change will offer Moneycorp’s best currency rates at no-commission for a limited time. The bureau will be opening with ten purchasable currencies, with a total of forty currencies that are available to be traded.

Nick Haslehurst, Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Moneycorp says:“As we look to expand our brand’s presence in France even further next year, the new retail store signals the start of a very exciting growth period for Moneycorp across this side of the channel.

“The Paris holding will consist of a dedicated bureau de change within the existing Rue de Dunkerque Moneygram store, located opposite the main entrance to the Gare du Nord station, making purchasing travel money even easier for the thousands of Eurostar passengers that frequent the station every day.

“The convenient location of the new bureau is just another way Moneycorp is working to make travel money and foreign exchange services more accessible to its customers. We have had a strong partnership with Moneygram for many years now, and it is great to be able pass on the benefits of this relationship to our customers.”

Guillaume Dewael, Vice President of France & Benelux-Africa at Moneygram says:
“Opening the bureau in Paris is a key milestone in our partnership with Moneycorp, combining our existing international money transfer service with Moneycorp’s travel currency offer. This partnership complements our existing service model, creating an even more streamlined foreign exchange offer for our customers.

“The opening of the bureau in our flagship Gare du Nord store is launching just in time for the Christmas period, a key time for both international payment and travel currency services. This bureau is the first step in the next stage of our partnership with Moneycorp, with more openings planned for 2015.”
