The Barclay Premier League’s Savviest Spenders
This year’s summer transfer window saw Premier League clubs spend a record £870m on bolstering their squads for the 2015/16 season. A large portion of this window’s deals were conducted with overseas clubs and big spending teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur were, as always, heavily involved in international recruitment.
The summer transfer window also saw a strong performance from the British pound, which meant, if teams timed their deals correctly, they could have made huge savings on their international payments. So, for a bit of fun, we’ve decided to analyse each Premier League club’s spending and selling activity during the transfer period in order to find out who has had their eyes on fluctuating exchange rates and conducted the savviest deals this summer.
