Dubai isn’t just home to the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa - it also offers a wide array of ultra-modern architecture, luxury shopping centres and unique attractions. Here are just a few places to look out for when visiting.
Atlantis Aquaventure Water Park
Open 365 days a year, from 10am till sunset, the Atlantis water park provides a range of fun-filled activities including: adrenaline-pumping rides, a children’s play area, shark-infested lagoons and relaxing sun loungers at the luxurious Neptune’s retreat.
Thrillseekers will want to keep an eye out for the Aquaconda - the world’s largest water slide! This incredible attraction launches you and your friends on a fun-filled ride into the largest fibreglass tube in the world.
Despite its blistering heat, Dubai is actually home to the largest indoor ski slope. Situated in the Mall of Emirates, you can ski, snowboard, zip line, take a chairlift ride and even meet penguins!
Ski Dubai offers five runs of varying skill levels, meaning there’s something for everyone, no matter your ability!
No visit to Dubai is complete without a trip to the Burj Khalifa! Looming over the city at an outstanding height of 828 metres (2712 ft.), the tallest building in the world is located at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard near the Dubai Mall.
Once at the top you can enjoy picturesque views of the city. If you get a chance, make sure to ride the travellator – a unique 65 metre elevator ride that travels 10 meters per second!
Top tips when visiting the Burj Khalifa:
1) Book in advance to save money
2) Don’t forget your camera
3) To avoid crowds, visit on a weekday in the morning.
4) The perfect time to visit is undoubtedly just before sunset
Dubai Miracle Garden
For a sensory experience, visit the world’s largest natural flower garden, the Dubai Miracle garden. The Miracle Garden has won numerous awards, including two Guinness Book of World records and the Moselle Award. 250 million plants and 50 million flowers are on display, while the gardens boast the largest indoor butterfly sanctuary – home to over 15,000 butterflies, of 26 different species.
Keep a look out for the iconic floral designs including the Mickey Mouse replica and the life-size model of the Emirates Airbus A380.
The gardens aren’t situated near the city centre, so you’ll need to get a taxi and remember to pre-book tickets online as this will save you queuing up.
