What is the IBAN format in the UAE?

Every bank account in the United Arab Emirates is assigned an International Bank Account Number, or IBAN. IBANs enable foreign banks to transfer money from overseas into the right account. In the UAE, these codes consist of 23 characters, beginning with an ISO Country Code (AE) and two IBAN check digits. This is followed by a Basic Bank Account Number, which is made up of a three-digit bank identifier code and a 16-digit account number.

What is the best way to transfer money to the UAE?

It’s true that you could just use your bank to transfer money to the UAE. However, it is worth bearing in mind that traditional banks aren’t always very good at handling international payments; their exchange rate costs are higher than those levied by currency specialists, and they often charge transfer fees of up to £30 per transaction. Banks tend to take longer to process international transactions too.

The better option, therefore, is to use a currency exchange specialist when making international payments to the United Arab Emirates. At Moneycorp, we offer competitive exchange rates, fee-free online transfers and expert advice.

Is it safe to send money online to the UAE?

It’s perfectly safe to make international money transfers to the United Arab Emirates when you use Moneycorp’s online services. As an Authorised Payment Institution, we are regulated by the FCA for the provision of payment services. We’ll flag suspicious transactions in your account, and your payment details will be protected at all times when you partner with us.
