What if I only want to get a quote?

This is very simple to do, and saves time phoning in.

  1. Click on 'Book a deal' on the home page
  2. Enter your requirements as requested
  3. Click 'Get rate'

On the following page, you can choose to proceed with your transaction at that rate by clicking 'Next'. Your rate will be live for five minutes.

How do I pay for my currency?

There are three ways for personal clients to pay for transfers on Moneycorp Online.

1. Bank transfer

Send your payment to moneycorp by bank transfer (FPS, BACS, CHAPS) to the account displayed when you login and click ‘Add funds to account’.

When arranging the transfer from your bank, ensure you quote your payment reference beginning with CK so we can link your payment to your account.  You must send your funds to moneycorp before you book your international payment if you wish to use this payment method.

For further information on moneycorp's bank accounts, please call our customer service team on +44(0)20 7589 3000 to obtain the appropriate bank details.

Faster Payments (FPS):  electronic payments that can be made online, over the phone, in branch or through self-service kiosks in 2-24 hours – as long as both banks are part of the Faster Payments Service.

BACS: electronic system to make payments directly from one bank account to another. They’re mainly used for Direct Debits and direct credits from organisations. The payments take 3 working days to clear.

CHAPS: guarantees same-day payment so long as the instructions are received by 2pm on a working day. There’s no limit to the amount of money you can send, although your bank will usually charge for this service.

2. Funds on account

If you have paid funds into your moneycorp account by bank transfer or debit card, you can use these to pay for your current international payment. When you reach the point of paying for your transaction, you will be asked if you wish to use these funds to pay. You must send your funds to moneycorp before you book your international payment if you wish to use this payment method.

2. Debit card

When prompted, please enter your UK debit card details. After completing the Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code authentication check, your currency is paid for.

Please note, the billing address on your card must match the address on your moneycorp account. We do not accept credit cards.

Card details can be stored securely for future use, so you don't have to input them every time your transfer funds using moneycorp online.

How much does it cost to make a transfer?

How do you determine what rate to charge?

Our rates are based on a combination of factors:

  • The current exchange rate
  • The amount transacted
  • The currency purchased

You receive the same rate whether you pay by debit card or pre-fund your account by bank transfer.

Foreign exchange markets do not operate between the hours of 10pm on Friday to 8pm on Sunday (both times are GMT). Therefore, the exchange rate you receive on Moneycorp Online during this period will not increase or decrease. At all other times, the rate you receive will track live exchange rates.

What if I only want to buy currency at today's rate, but don't want to send it yet?

Sometimes the exchange rate moves to a point that's just too good to ignore, and you'd like to buy some for a future requirement. With Moneycorp Online, this is easy to do. Just click on 'Book a deal' and proceed as normal. Once you've paid for your currency by hitting the 'Pay now' button, you'll see a pop-up that asks if you wish to send your currency overseas now.

If you're just taking advantage of a good rate and don't want to send it yet, click 'No, thanks'. Your currency will remain on account with Moneycorp until you wish to transfer it – to do that, click on 'Finalise a transfer booked over the phone' and follow the instructions.

What is an IBAN, and where can I find it?

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number, and these numbers are used to identify bank accounts when sending funds overseas. IBANs are derived from existing information such as the sort code and account number. Depending on the country where the bank account is located, these numbers can range in length from 15 to 31 alphanumeric characters (ie, GB29 NWBK 6016 1331 9268 19). IBANs are always used in conjunction with a Bank Identifier Code (BIC) or SWIFT code, which is either 8 or 11 characters in length.

If you are sending currency to your own bank account overseas, you can find your IBAN on your bank account statements. If you are sending currency to someone else's bank account, you can request the IBAN from your transfer recipient.
