Reserve and collect

Continuing from our 6 best skiing destinations around the world, here are some other skiing destinations in Europe which you should keep an eye out for.

To recap on our previous skiing blog which explored destinations including Lake Louise (Canada) and Åre (Sweden) - click here

Val Thorens, France

This is a great place to go if you like skiing and partying! It’s won many awards and for a few good reasons. Val Thorens is part of the biggest ski areas in the world and it covers over a whopping 600 kilometres of runs. It is the highest altitude resort in Europe and the highest point in the 3 Vallées ski area. The high altitude means that the snow doesn’t thaw as quickly, which is why the snow quality is great here.

Apart from the excellent snow and skiing conditions, the restaurants in the 3 Vallees are outstanding too. You will find a lot of Michelin star restaurants here, another good reason to go here!

  • Great for skiers of all levels
  • Fantastic snow quality
  •  Lots of different runs to explore

Courchevel, France

Are you looking for a great place to learn how to ski? Courchevel is fantastic for beginners. It offers a 150km of runs and consists of four ski villages: Courchevel 1300, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 and Courchevel 1850. If this isn’t enough, you can buy a pass which will allow you to go to the vast Three Valleys ski area. It’s not just great for beginners, it offers something for every level, which is why it’s such a great place to visit.

  •  Excellent lift connections
  • Free beginners lift
  • Lots of snow

Saalbach, Austria

The skiing in Saalbach is ideal for the brave and adventurous. The main circuit is made up of blue and red-rated pistes that are a little bit steeper than average, and there are a few steep blacks too – notably from the top of the 2020 Schattberg Ost back into Saalbach. Beginners are also well catered for as there are lots of beginner areas with practice lifts at almost all locations.

The best time to go skiing in Saalbach is from January until February.

  • 270 km of slopes
  • Great for skiers of all levels
  • Lots of new gondolas
  • Good ski schools

St Anton, Austria

St Anton is a lovely village which is most well-known for being the largest ski area in Austria. It offers a good 305km of marked runs, and an impressive 200 km of off-piste. Although there are runs for true beginners, St Anton seems to be better for the intermediate and experienced skiers.

  • It’s got its own train station and is located near Innsbruck Zurich
  • Definitely visit the Krazy Kanguruh, this is the perfect place to go for après skiing.
  • Enjoy the amazing view in combination with an ice cold beer and some good food! Great (English spoken) ski school
