Moneycorp delivers career coaching with Future Frontiers for the third year

Supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds

3 minute read

The Moneycorp team recently teamed up with educational inequality charity Future Frontiers to deliver a coaching programme for students from Claremont High School Academy Trust in Harrow. The partnership supported nineteen Year 10 students with building the critical foundations necessary for better school engagement and progress into high-quality education or training after their GCSES.

Future Frontiers aims to tackle the disadvantages faced by young people born into low-income families, two-thirds of which will not achieve qualifications above GCSE level by the time they finish their education. It does this by providing them with the guidance, networks, and opportunities they need to realise their potential at school and achieve post-16 qualifications that build towards secure and fulfilling employment.

The students were paired with nineteen Moneycorp coaches who delivered six hours of individual coaching and guidance. During their time together, the coaches gave the pupils space to explore their interests, discover inspiring career options, and plan their next steps. Our volunteers also shared their professional networks with the pupils, introducing them to others with inspirational careers from a wide range of fields, including a lawyer, forensic psychologist, football coach, and primary school teacher.

Research from the Education and Employer charity shows that young people who recall four or more encounters with employers when they’re at school are four times less likely to be ‘Not in Education or Employment’ (NEET) and earn, on average, 16% more over the course of their careers.

A survey following this stage of the programme showed 100% of pupils agreed with positive statements about their knowledge, skills, and self-belief as a result of their coaching sessions. All the pupils also agreed that their coach had helped them find an inspirational career.

Dominic Baker, Founder and CEO of Future Frontiers, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you for choosing to support our young people on their career journeys over the last couple of months. Through your dedication, they have been able to explore and connect pathways to careers they would not have previously known, considered, or thought possible.”

Future Frontiers will now continue to support the young people enrolled in the programme with individual 1:1 career advice once they reach Year 11, ongoing support throughout the year, and GCSE results day support.

This is the third year Moneycorp has partnered with Future Frontiers, and we are looking forward to supporting a new cohort of Year 10 students with their career journeys next academic year.
