About Moneycorp

TTT Moneycorp Limited was incorporated in 1962 by founder Bassam Shlewet. In April 1979, the company obtained a Bank of England license to operate bureaux de change in Central London, commencing trading with a small branch on Oxford Street. Since then, Moneycorp has grown considerably in its retail, wholesale and commercial foreign exchange operations.

In December 2006, RBS Equity Finance purchased a significant holding in the business from the Shlewet Family Trust, with Bassam Shlewet becoming Chairman of the Group. In October 2011, RBS increased its equity investment taking its total shareholding in the Group to 97.5%. After 32 years of growing the business, Bassam Shlewet left Moneycorp in October 2011.

Today Moneycorp is a leading non-bank provider of foreign exchange services, providing:

  • Commercial foreign exchange services to corporate customers and private clients
  • Retail bureau de change from locations at Gatwick, Stansted and Southampton airports and in central London
  • Online Travel Money and Currency Pre-paid cards
